See Every Movement in Crisp ClearMR
When you’re trying to get lost in another world, details matter. Make sure you can see every twitch, blink and flutter with a VESA Certified ClearMR display.
Looking for clarity? The ClearMR logo was developed to give consumers a straightforward metric for comparing performance across products. ClearMR is the only certified, open, industry standard for grading motion blur in digital displays.
Life isn’t blurry. Why should the motion on your display be?
What is ClearMR?
The True Quality Metric for Motion Clarity
The new metric defined in the ClearMR test specification, called Clear Motion Ratio (CMR), provides a clear numerical value based on the ratio of clear pixels to blurry pixels, which enables consumers to easily compare the amount of motion blur between VESA Certified ClearMR displays. See ClearMR: Demystifying Display Motion Blur Webinar here. See ClearMR at CES 2023 (YouTube) and Blog.
Current methods, such as MPRT, fail to reflect the true nature of blur because a solely time-based metric cannot account for a number of image enhancement and blur mitigation techniques, such as excessive overshoot and undershoot, which can create artifacts and distortions that negatively impact image quality. VESA’s ClearMR standard and logo program limits the use of these enhancement techniques during testing—enabling consumers to make a fair comparison of motion blur quality across VESA Certified ClearMR display products.
The VESA Certified ClearMR logo features multiple performance tiers—from ClearMR 3000 up to ClearMR 13000—where each represents a range of blur performance based on the Clear Motion Ratio. Each tier provides a visually distinguishable change in clarity, with higher CMR numbers indicating higher image quality and less blur.
Choose Displays that Meet the Mark
Only displays that pass all ClearMR compliance tests can qualify for the VESA Certified ClearMR Logo.
From ClearMR 3000 to ClearMR 13000, each certified rating indicates a visually distinguishable change in clarity, labeled so you know exactly what you’re going to get, whether you’re looking at an LCD, OLED, desktop, notebook, or embedded display.
“Whether in gaming or video streaming, unwanted motion blur can ruin the user experience… ClearMR is the most complete method available today for qualifying motion blur in displays.”

An Open Source Industry Standard
ClearMR Compliance Test Specification (CTS) is an industry standard and logo program that provides a new quality metric for quantifying motion blur in digital displays.
The ClearMR CTS is applicable to both LCD and emissive display products, including monitors, televisions, and computers with embedded displays, such as all-in-ones, laptops, notebooks and tablets. The new metric defined in the ClearMR CTS, called Clear Motion Ratio (CMR), provides a clear numerical value based on the ratio of clear pixels to blurry pixels, which enables consumers to easily compare motion blur quality between VESA Certified ClearMR displays.
CMR replaces Motion Picture Response Time (MPRT) and other methods of blur characterization since these other metrics do not accurately reflect the true nature of blur.
Only devices that meet the performance mandates defined by VESA can display the ClearMR logo.
